Santa Speaks about Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh

Ho ho ho! Now, Santa knows a thing or two about gifts. It's rather my whole line of work, after all! So you can imagine how interested I am in the famous presents the wise men brought to the little King. Gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Three gifts. Three travelers. And not a single toy among them!

Let's start with the gold. Now, gold I understand completely. Gold is a gift fit for a king. It's precious, it's valuable, it gleams and it shines. When you give someone gold, you are saying, "You are royalty. You are worthy of the very finest." And that's exactly what the wise men were saying. This child was a King — the King of Kings — and gold honored that. So far, so sensible.

But then we come to the second gift. Frankincense. Now, I'll be honest with you, if you handed a child a box of frankincense today, you might get a rather puzzled look. Frankincense isn't a toy or a treat. It's a special kind of incense, a fragrance that, in those days, was burned in worship to God. So when the wise men brought frankincense, they were saying something profound. They were saying this child was holy. Not just a king of the earth, but someone divine, someone to be worshiped. A rather thoughtful gift, when you understand what it meant.

And then comes the third gift — and this one, my friends, is the most surprising of all. Myrrh. Now myrrh was a precious spice, but it was used for anointing, and it was used in burial. Now I'll admit, that's an unusual present to bring to a baby! But there was deep meaning in it. The myrrh quietly pointed ahead to the fact that this child had come into the world for a great and serious purpose, one that would carry Him through joy and through sorrow, all the way to saving His people.

So you see, these weren't random gifts pulled off a shelf at the last minute. Oh no. Each one was carefully chosen, and each one told part of the story. Gold for a King. Frankincense for the holy one. Myrrh for the great purpose ahead. Three gifts, each a little message, each a little piece of who this child truly was.

Now, old Santa fills his sack with toys and games and goodies, and I love every bit of it. There's nothing wrong with a present that simply makes a child smile on Christmas morning! But the wise men remind us of something deeper. The very best gifts aren't just expensive. They're meaningful. They say something true about the person you're giving them to.

So this Christmas, when you're choosing gifts for the people you love, take a page from the wise men's book. Don't just grab the first shiny thing you see. Give a gift that says something. A gift that shows you really know them, and really love them. That's a gift worth giving.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Ho ho ho! https://santaclaus.top/the-gifts-gold-frankincense-and-myrrh/
